You just got paid and its time to get that new laptop youve been dreaming of. So you head off to the store, pick up your new (insert brand name here) laptop and bring it home to check out your spoils. Youre thrilled when everything works great, until you try to plug in your cellular internet PCMCIA card. Then you realize that the card wont fit! Whats to be done?

ExpressCard Muscling In

This is a scenario that is becoming more and more common as computer manufacturers roll out new laptops using the newer, faster ExpressCard standard. And along with the advent of this new technology comes the demise of the PCMCIA standard, which will become more and more rare. Although the ExpressCard offers significantly faster speeds and a more compact form, which will help to keep laptop design slim, the rapidity of the rollout has caught ExpressCard manufacturers struggling to keep up with demand as consumers seek ExpressCards to replace their existing PCMCIA cards. Perhaps the most prevalent issue is that while there are now ExpressCard versions of most PCMCIA cards, there are few, if any, viable alternatives for EVDO, EDGE, or GSM cellular internet PCMCIA cardbus cards.

EVDO wireless router

There are several potential solutions to this issue. The first would be to buy a specially designed stand-alone router with a cardbus slot specifically intended for a wireless internet card. This router takes the cellular signal from the aircard and converts it into a WiFi signal that can be picked up by a standard 802.11b/g wireless adapter. The 3G Phoebus is in this class of router.

ExpressCard to PCMCIA

Another solution is to use an ExpressCard to PCMCIA adapter. This adapter plugs into your available ExpressCard slot, and allows you to connect your wireless aircard (via an attached cable and receiver) to your laptop.

The best available solution for this problem is to use a usb to PCMCIA adapter. This adapter consists of a usb cable that is attached to an adapter that is designed to allow you to insert your cellular PCMCIA card. Simply plug the usb port into your computer and do a simple install to take advantage of wireless internet with your new ExpressCard laptop.

As someone who never cared much about college football growing up, when barry Alvarez was hired to coach my state's largest (only) division I football program in 1990, I was only mildly interested. After 116 victories, and 3 Rose bowl victories, I am now a convert: I love Badgers football!

As of yesterday, things will be different at UW-Madison: head coach barry Alvarez coached his las college football game at camp Randall stadium. Sure there is 1 more game, at hawaii, and 1 more bowl game to play and win. And yes, coach Alvarez is thankfully staying on as athletic director to help recruit and run our programs to ensure we stay top notch in all we do, but things will be different, that's for sure.

I just wanted to say thanks for being such a great leader, coach Alvarez. You innovated your way into my heart with a new brand of college football, and you made your way into the hearts of so many others in the state of Wisconsin. Thanks for bringing respectability back to 'Sconsin Football! It's been a great ride, what with a Heisman trophy winner (Ron Dayne), 3 Rose bowl victories, and a beautifully remodeled camp Randall to watch the games at. I went to camp Randall this year to watch the Badgers defeat michigan, and the place was electric!

Thanks for all of that, and so much more coach Alvarez! Making it great never looked so easy as when you coached, so thanks for inspiring so many Wisconsin kids to believe that our little state college is so much more than just a place to learn!

The new xbox 360 video game console coming from microsoft comes out with an aim of annexing the hearts of young game lovers around the globe. The new model console comes with the facility to download arcade games and content such as game demos, trailers, TV shows, music videos, or rented movies. 1. Consoles cost $90 or Less: The original Xbox stopped selling in the USA for a price of $149.99, but you can find it quite a bit cheaper now. Many stores will sell used Xbox consoles for less than $90. Be sure to shop around because prices can very a lot between stores.

2. Buy Used: microsoft stopped making the original Xbox in 2005 and most stores don't carry new consoles anymore. You can still find new consoles if you really want one, but you will definitely pay a premium. Thankfully, microsoft built the Xbox well, so used consoles are still in good shape. The original Xbox isn't like the Xbox 360's that have had technical problems and recalls.

3. Don't Shop in Retail Stores: You will most likely be wasting your time. All major retailers and most used video game stores have stopped selling Xbox consoles and games. They have moved on to the newer systems and don't have room for it anymore. Smaller, independent video game stores near you might still carry Xbox consoles though. Gamestop and EBGames only sell Xbox games now, no more consoles.

4. Shop online: The best place to find an Xbox console and games is in online stores or ebay. You can use comparison shopping engines or google to find quite a few Xbox's available. And like everything else in the world, you can find Xbox systems on ebay too. Be careful when shopping online to make sure you don't over pay for shipping though, especially on ebay. Lots of retailers advertise a low sales price for the console, but then charge a lot for shipping.

5. Watch What is Included: The Xbox originally came with one controller, an AV Cords, and an AC adapter. You need all three of these for the system to work so be sure any sites where you shop explicitly say all three of these are included. You don't want to think you got a good deal on a console only to find it didn't include a controller, which will cost you more money to buy separately.

BONUS tip: An Xbox console is almost worthless without some games, so try to buy from a store that carries a wide selection of games too. There is no sense in spending more time finding the games somewhere else when you can buy them all in one location. And you can usually get discounts on bundled games too!

If you keep these five things in mind when shopping for your Xbox you should be able to find a great deal and save yourself a lot of hassle. Go buy an Xbox console and start enjoying some of the great games the system has to offer.
